I first came across Max Lamb's work in an issue of Pin-Up Magazine (they have them at Friends & Neighbors :). The first thing I saw was this photo, and I'll admit, he's distractingly good looking - sometimes I wonder if I'd like his work as much if he was a hairy troll. I've tried to imagine him as a hairy troll, and I still like everything he makes a LOT. And he makes a lot of stuff - it seems like there's nothing outside of his wheelhouse - plastic, plaster, made his own marble, wood, cut rocks, and melted pewter (to name a few).
I really like the pewter stools and tables he makes in the sand on the beach. I imagine him saying something like "Let's try this!" and taking a bunch of supplies down to the ocean and being excited to see if his idea will work or not. I just wish I was there to watch him dig it out of the sand and squeal in elation of its success.
