Meet Miranda (if you haven't already). She's the beauty and brains of her epyonomous line; Miranda Bennett. If you don't already own one or four of her dresses and tops, then today is your chance! She'll be at Olive from 3-6, selling one-of-a-kind, hand dyed clothes with the lovely Kate DePara of Evens. Don't miss this very fun Gal Pal!
We got to ask Miranda what she's been up to since the fall (a lot!!!) - check it out and then stop by to say hi this afternoon!
You've been incredibly busy between the Fall Feliz and now - can you give us the highlight reel of the past 5 months?
The biggest news is probably our move in to a new studio / showroom space in Olive's beautiful old storefront (at 1223 Rosewood Avenue). We have been expanding our team considerably since the last Feliz as well. All of our production, natural dyeing and design work happens here in Austin, so it has been very rewarding to draw on the local pool of talent here as we grow.
With the new space we have also launched a monthly workshop program - our first session focused on weaving and was held this March with Ashlie Adams of Yard Fibers - up next is Nail Art led by Meghann Rosales of Nail's Y'all, I know that one will fill up fast! These workshops will cover all things, from calligraphy to Kombucha making.
On the immediate horizon for us is our second collaboration with Of a Kind and the release of Edition V, our newest capsule collection of seasonless, naturally dyed women's apparel and textiles. I am busting at the seams to debut both.
Does having a new space to work in bring about new ideas and designs?
I don't know that just having a new space does per se, but having more room certainly helps a ton. And having the showroom aspect to our space has given us more opportunity to gather feedback and be in touch with our customers through private appointments. I also love that we can invite the community in to our new space to come together around our workshop program, there's such a special kind of bonding that takes place in that context, where everyone walks in at ground zero and grasps to learn together.
Your everyday dress has quickly become the everyday staple of everyone in Austin. How does it feel to see friends and strangers wear your clothes?
I will never stop being humbled and happy to see friends and strangers wearing my clothes. It always feels like the best surprise.
I love your Bridget Bardot inspirational insta photos - tell us what you love about her.
Brigitte Bardot is that quintessential effortless French beauty. It's all sun and stormy eyes and playful confidence. Looking at old photos of her feels like spending a day at the beach.
What's your favorite thing to do to escape from all your work?
I love a three day trip, it can even involve a bit of work, just the getting away and planning a few special meals or outings usually does the trick to make me feel refreshed without coming home too road weary.
Mucho Love and Gracias, Miranda!
