We're so excited to shine the spotlight on Myth & Symbol. Sister duo, Trang & Chau, founded their Houston gem of a boutique three short years ago & it's already hard to imagine a world without M&S. Washed in soft pastels and armed with eye-catching angular custom fixtures their impressive roster of independent designers -- including more than a few Feliz alumni -- speaks to the savvy shopper.
This is your third time partnering with Feliz (thank you!). What keeps you coming back for more?
Feliz is well-curated, and we admire all the makers and shops that are selected. Our first year, we had a booth and the crowd was lots of fun. This spring, we are just sponsors but hopefully, we’ll be back again this fall.
Myth & Symbol has become known for featuring a sharp edit of independent design. Who are some of your favorite up and coming designers at the moment?
We’ve been pretty impressed with local Houstonian, Julia Gabriel of Julia Gabriel Studio (who will be a first time Feliz participant this year). Julia’s minimalist leather goods have been well-received at the shop. It’s an added bonus that she’s such a genuinely nice and talented person.
Another designer who’s been a fave of ours this season is Alyson Fox who recently debuted her Fox_A clothing line. When we first opened in 2012, we carried Alyson Fox’s jewelry line and then added on her prints and homeware collection. Her creative range is amazing and we’re looking forward to any of her future collaborations.
Tell us about some of your favorite things in the shop at the moment. What are you in love with?
Mules! We’re year-round boot wearers but we’ll loving Rachel Comey’s Dahl Mules. Kathleen Whitaker is a popular pick at the shop. We also love how Tiro Tiro has been incorporating linen in her jewelry.
You’ve got a full tank of gas, spare time on your hands & a long weekend ahead — tell us what you’d get up to!
We would head to Austin for some Home Slice and Hop Doddy. Chau would bring Scout (aka our unofficial new M&S mascot) along, of course.
