The Palm Door has provided the beautiful backdrop to Feliz for the past 3 years, and the building has become its own star! Their clean and cozy space fits perfectly with the carefully curated wares of the makers and designers. Shoppers spend hours sitting in the outdoor space, sipping coffee and cocktails before going in for a second round of shopping. We get a moment to talk with these lovely hosts about the venue, and how they've grown since last year.
Hello Palm Door!! can you tell us a little bit about your space and events you host?
Hi Feliz! Palm Door on Sabine is an urban loft event space located in the heart of downtown Austin. We have over 2900 square feet of indoor and outdoor spaces combined. We can host up to 350 standing or up to 150 for a seated dinner. With an open floor plan, 14’ vaulted ceiling, white walls & hardwood floors you have a blank canvas and flexibility to get creative with designing an event here. We host all kinds of events including rehearsal dinners, weddings, meet ups, corporate events and we're also an official SXSW Venue!
You’ve had an exciting year - can you tell us a little bit about opening a second location on 6th street?
With Palm Door on Sabine established, we couldn't resist the opportunity for this super exciting venture to expand the Palm Door brand. We acquired the space and opened in style with an 80s themed event on NYE 2014. We went on to host amazing SXSW events and artists. Shortly thereafter, we hired a Venue Manager (Gracie Luna) and continued rolling out transformation into PD6 over the summer through a busy fall! We have a spectacular 1 yr anniversary celebration for NYE 2015 that will blast us into a busy season of weddings, corporate meetings, events, SXSW and so much more!
Aside from Feliz, do you host any other events open to the public?
As previously mentioned we are hosting a New Years Eve Celebration we call Studio Palm Door featuring Brooklyn-based talent Escort and Austin favorite, Holiday Mountain at Palm Door on Sixth. Between both venues we have hosted art shows, music showcases, tastings and the list goes on!
What are the first steps someone would need to take if they wanted to book an event in one of your locations?
