Hi I’m Tim. I wrote a book of short stories called Orange Juice and a novel called Matt Meets Vik. I like soccer and Ann Beattie. I live in Austin, Texas with my girlfriend, artist/musician Christa Palazzolo.
I’m a pretty low maintenance writer who spends a lot of time indoors during the week. The first thing I do in the morning is sit down at my computer. I’ll usually edit some piece or another. I'll open a Pages file, read through some draft, change a word or two, then close it. Then, I’ll grab a bowl of cereal and look at HTML Giant, The Daily Dish, Tumblr, Gawker or something while eating breakfast.
If it’s a weekend, I’m usually around some of these places:
East Side Showroom. They have a great Pimm’s Cup. They used to have a really great burger that had an egg on top, but they stopped selling it. The rest of the menu is really great though. The lighting is really dim and the decor is kind of “steam punk”, like there’s a giant periscope in the middle of the bar, and an old, upright piano, but it’s all very cozy-feeling.
MASS Gallery. Pretty great space to see interesting art. I’ve probably visited that gallery more than any other gallery in the past year. Right now they have a great show up called “Exquisite Corpse”. I’ll be reading there with some cool people on October 10th. Please come.
Kome. Damn, so good. I go here with my girlfriend on date nights. We always get the fried spring rolls and miso. The restaurant keeps the pretension to a minimum and we always find a good table quickly. When global warming destroys everything, what I’ll miss the most is Kome’s Camembert Tempura, which is just like fried cheese you can dip in honey.
