I'll be honest here - I had no idea that I would like cement as much as Oh, Laszlo has made me like cement. The way she's able to bleed colors into this *concrete* object is really stunning. She's been a long time Feliz-er and we hope she sticks around for years to come.

Hey! Can you tell us a little bit about what you've been up to this summer?
The most exciting thing was that I ran my first 10K, in Colorado with my aunts and my cousin and my parents cheering us on. Then we had an epic ladies weekend in Glenwood Springs. I also got to meet my first nephew in Seattle! Other than that, just keeping up the hustle with y 9-to-5 at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center and slinging concrete on the side.
I feel like you must have one of the messiest processes, am I wrong? I'm judging on my own use with plaster molds. Do you keep things really clean and organized or is it almost impossible?
No, you are not wrong. It's super messy, and I have to wear protective gear because cement is not good for your lungs or skin. I think, given that I don't have a studio and do most of this outside, that I am relatively organized. But in reality, it looks like a disaster. Plus, I re-use everything possible--from water, to molds, to tape--I am obsessed with educing, re-using and recycling.
What do you find helps you focus on the task at hand?
Deadlines. It's all about the deadlines. And I reward myself with a beer after making a batch of concrete.
What are you looking forward to for the holidays? Do you have a strategy for gift buying?
I am looking forward to spending time with family, relaxing and doing some knitting.
As far as gift buying, of course I will not be able to resist all of the amazing vendors at Feliz!! I do like to keep it handmade, but really I have no strategy.
