Sponsor Spotlight: Palm Door on 6th

October 8, 2015 Sarah Murphy

Y'all know the Palm Door on Sabine Street as Austin's beautiful backdrop for Weddings, holiday parties, and charming events like Feliz. Frankly, Feliz couldn't be what it is without the incredible staff of The Palm Door and the ease we have in working with them. Their expansion into the Palm Door on Sixth aligns perfectly with our bigger Feliz Fall sale - and we're very happy to grow into their growing space. We talked to Gracie about the new location, and are so excited to share Feliz's new fall home with you!

We are so excited to move into the new, downtown location. What kind of events do you have here? Are you as wedding-oriented as the Sabine location?
We're so stoked about Feliz growing into our Sixth location, too! We only host private events of a balanced variety. Typically, events on any weekday or weekend can include corporate receptions, experiential marketing events, meetings/conferences, award ceremonies, wedding events, film + photo shoots, concerts, vendor fairs like Feliz, and non-profit fundraising events.

Y’all are a stones throw from the more “infamous” parts of 6th street, but Austin seems to be shifting and changing everyday. What kind of changes are you noticing in your neighborhood?
I believe Sixth Street has always served as a destination for anyone visiting and remains intrinsic to our city. I definitely see our neighborhood returning to values and honoring Historic Sixth Street. The efforts from citizens and neighborhood groups that are being poured into the redevelopment of Waller Creek are testament to that statement. Plus, the success of quality establishments like Palm Door on Sixth, Easy Tiger, and Waller Ballroom on a street that was once "infamous" are inspiring and hopeful.  Because of this, I have high hopes that Sixth Street will continue to evolve from this genuine desire for people to celebrate all the legendary places they have grown to love in Austin.

Any Halloween plans or parties you know about?
I believe the place to see and be seen in any epic Halloween costume is Historic Sixth Street. Me? I'll likely be taking my nieces and nephews trick-or-treating as they are not yet of age for that experience. :)

Is it too late to book the venue for a Christmas/Holiday party?
We're a pretty popular spot for holiday parties and all our weekends are snatched up! However, we have available Sundays and Weekdays available. Just fill out our form here to start the process to reserve your date today.

As parking becomes more and more of an issue, what advice parking advice do you have for people coming to Feliz?
Sunday is the BEST day for parking downtown. The streets around Palm Door on Sixth are lined with metered and parallel parking that are FREE on Sunday! You can also pay to park in any of the numerous parking lots and garages that surround the venue as well.
